Intumescent flame retardant coating
Composition:
IGNICOTE is a water-based fire-retardant coating formulated with intumescent agents that react with heat to form a protective layer against fire. This specific blend includes components that create an insulating barrier when the material is exposed to high temperatures, considerably slowing the temperature rise of the underlying metal structures. The product is also enriched with anti-corrosion additives, offering protection against humidity and corrosive environments, while minimizing condensation. Its smooth, creamy finish allows even, aesthetic application, while ensuring strong, long-lasting adhesion to metal surfaces.
Water-based intumescent coating for fire protection of metal structures. IGNICOTE-FP offers fire resistance up to 2 hours (R90 at metal thickness > 4 mm and R120 at > 12 mm) in compliance with EN 13381 – 7:2019/263 (ASTM E-119). An aesthetic, single-coat, impact-resistant product, it offers outstanding anti-corrosion protection and anti-condensation performance.

Surface preparation :
- Clean surface to remove dust, dirt, oil, grease and rust with a suitable solvent.
- Abrasion recommended for highly polished surfaces (wire brushing, sandblasting, abrasive paper).
- Use primer on steel to prevent flash rusting.
Application conditions:
- Minimum ambient temperature: 10°C (50°F)
Storage and keeping:
- Store in a cool, dry place.

Application methods :
- Trowel: Apply and smooth as required.
- Brush: Add 0.3% water per kg of product. Use a 100 mm nylon brush and apply a thick coat (2 mm). Avoid back-and-forth movements.
- Pneumatic/airless spray systems: Recommended for application.
Mixing instructions :
- Mix thoroughly to a creamy consistency.
- Modify viscosity with 1.3% water per kg if necessary.

- This product is classified as non-hazardous. However, it is important to observe all safety precautions.
- Do not dispose of this product in the environment.

Safety precautions :
- Personal protection: Use gloves, goggles and appropriate clothing when applying.
- Avoid inhalation of vapours. Apply in well-ventilated areas.
- In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if necessary.
- If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and do not induce vomiting.
- Clean equipment with water after use.
- Wear personal protective equipment: goggles, gloves and safety clothing.
- Indoor and outdoor use.
Care and Cleaning :
- Clean tools with soapy water immediately after use.
- Do not discharge residues into drains or watercourses.
Storage and Preservation :
- Store in tightly closed original container.
- Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from frost and direct sunlight.
- Shelf life: 12 months under optimal storage conditions.
